The client
Castellum Capital Partners is an FCA authorised investment adviser running a short duration UK specialty credit strategy. It funds fixed legal case costs for experienced law firms on a non recourse basis, within UK housing disrepair litigation.
The strategy
Returns come from a contractual share of law firm fee recoveries rather than from betting on the outcome of individual cases. Deployments are small and repeatable, downside protection is supported by insurance, and the structure is built around recycling capital and matching liquidity to the investor.
What we did
We advised Castellum on securing an investment from a family office investor in support of the strategy. Our role was to find an investor who understood the asset and wanted uncorrelated, cash generative income, and to bring the two sides to terms.
Why it matters
Family offices are looking beyond equities and property for income that does not move with the markets. Specialist private credit, well underwritten, can provide it.
